Amelia Hutchinson
Amelia Hutchinson
Pilates Instructor
Amelia’s passion for movement and dance sparked at an early age in her home city of Auckland, where she was first introduced to Pilates in 2005 as a young and aspiring ballet dancer. She moved to Melbourne in her teens to train full-time at The Australian Ballet School and upon graduating with a Diploma of Dance, she toured throughout Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong while filming the international dance film Ador (collaborating with dancers from the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, Queensland Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Australian Dance Theatre, Melbourne Ballet Company, and Projection Dance Company).
In 2012, her professional dance career brought her to London, where she lived for 8 years while dancing with the English National Ballet and teaching ballet, barre, and Pilates. She also worked as a qualified personal trainer, all while completing a Bachelor of Business.
Amelia completed her initial Comprehensive Pilates training through STOTT Pilates and on her return to New Zealand in 2020 immediately connected with The Physio Pilates Team. In 2021 she decided to complete a second Pilates Certification though BASI Pilates and has truly adopted The BASI way as she shares the power Pilates to change lives.
Amelia brings a wealth of movement experience to The Team and she has an insatiable thirst for knowledge — constantly aspiring to grow as a Teacher and as a student practicing Pilates.
Amelia attended Rael Isacowitz’s Pilates for the Aging Population workshop in 2021 and has found ways to share the value of Healthy Aging with all her clients young and old.
She also continued her Pilates Education by attending the BASI Pilates workshop: Pilates for Breast Cancer Recover in 2023.In 2024 she completed Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies through BASI Pilates with Physiotherapist and BASI Pilates Instructor: Samantha Wood (MPT, MBA, PMA-CPT, RYT).
Amelia has a bubbly personality and her approach to teaching movement is disciplined, structured, progressive and well-balanced. Her well-planned sessions leaves her clients feeling satisfied, empowered, encouraged and evolving.
She has the special ability to inspire the youth, and especially those who are motivated to excel in sporting activities or artistic pursuits. She also works alongside our physiotherapy staff to support a variety of our clients in their rehabilitation goals or integrating Pilates into their Maintenance Programs.
She has a holistic interest in dance and dance education and this makes her the ideal instructor for dancers who want to include Pilates in their cross-training program or anyone with an interest to use Pilates to supplement their passions.
