Tracey Puttergill

Pilates Instructor

Tracey’s journey with Pilates started more than 20 years ago. As a young mum with little time to herself she felt a need to reconnect with her body; improve her posture and feel strong and confident in her everyday movement. Pilates proved to be just what she needed and so much more: – she felt stronger, her flexibility improved as did her energy level.

In 2018 Tracey decided to make a career change and swapped her love of teaching in the classroom to pursue her passion for Pilates. She enrolled and graduated from the BASI Pilates Comprehensive Teacher Training Program in Cape Town, South Africa was fortunate to be invited to complete her teacher training under the guidance of a BASI studio in Constantia, Cape Town. She worked at this studio for a year before moving with her family to New Zealand in 2019.

Soon after arriving in New Zealand, Tracey began working as an instructor at a Pilates and Physiotherapy studio in the Eastern Bays and over the course of the past 4 ½ years has worked with a variety of clients, introducing new clients to the foundation principles and movements of Pilates as well as encouraging seasoned movers in their pursuit of improving their functional strength and also fortunate to work alongside physiotherapists, providing suitable exercises and guidance for clients rehabilitating & healing form injuries and has been part of the Physio Pilates Family as a client for years.

Tracey has a particular interest in working with mature clients and continues to be inspired and in awe of the ripple effect that Pilates has on all individuals’ approach to life – simply put, movement makes you feel good and

if you feel good, you function well and life seems more complete
Rael Isacowitz, BASI Pilates.

She is passionate about sharing her love of Pilates and guiding other enthusiasts to discover the benefits of establishing efficient movement patterns. Her approach, in each session, is to facilitate clients finding the joy of movement; by creating a calm, supportive environment that encourages and builds a wonderful relationship with their bodies. Her sessions are designed to encourage a mind-body connection; making use of the BASI principles and BASI Block system to ensure that sessions are suited to an individual’s needs, abilities and goals.

Tracey is an absolutely delight. Her positive, enthusiastic approach to life, spills over in her teaching and her goal is for clients to leave each session feeling encouraged, with a greater awareness of their bodies potential and motivated to continue building healthy movement patterns.

In addition to her Comprehensive Pilates qualification, Tracey has attended the following Pilates workshops and courses:

  • BASI PILATES Learn from the Leaders Conference, hosted by BASI Pilates South Africa, Pretoria, South Africa, 2018
  • Pilates for Chronic Pain Syndromes, Samantha Wood, 2018
  • Pilates for Osteoporosis, Ashley Ritchie, 2018
  • Pilates Mat work for the Mature Client, Sheri Long, 2018

  • Pilates through Pregnancy and Beyond, Ashley Ritchie, 2021
  • Pilates for Injuries and Pathologies, Samantha Wood (MPT, MBA, PMA-CPT, RYT) 2024.

“Moving through life in harmony with all that is around us and all that is within us is the ultimate achievement of the practice of Pilates.”
